And, let’s face it, the iOS app store has no shortage of games to choose from, some of them free, some of them paid, and some offer in-app purchases to enhance your gaming experience. The hardest part is to find the best games; sure, you may come across some real gems, but I guarantee you will go through hundreds of games that aren’t worth your time or money first.

We’ve started this one as something a little different. While it advertises itself as an idle shooter game, it’s a bit more than that. Your War Tortoise is loaded with weapons, and the idea is to shoot the bad guys down as they approach you. In the process, you win money, and, as a result of defeating the bad guys, you also win followed. With your tiny army, you plod on, defeating each area and yourself as you go. Game controls are simple – move your gunsights by dragging across the screen and your gun fires automatically. You can upgrade armor and weapons, increase your army, give them better abilities, and more. It’s a great way to pass a few hours and is a free game with in-app purchases. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp – Free (in-app purchases)

Proving an incredibly popular installment to the Animal Crossing games, you no longer need to use a Nintendo Switch to play it. Pocket Camp is the mobile version of the game, allowing you to get your Animal Crossing fix wherever you are. Set your campsite up, design it by collecting cool items from events and tasks, turn it into whatever you want – a glamping campsite, a funfair, music festival – whatever you want.  There are in-app purchases, but you don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to. Angry Birds 2 – Free (in-app purchases)

Everyone has heard of Angry Birds, one of the most popular games franchises in existence. Angry Birds 2 whips you back to the war between the pigs and the angry birds, and you can only win that war by flinging those birds straight at the pigs. One of the biggest games in the world, Fortnite is incredibly popular and quite addictive. A third-person shooter game, this features fast action, cool combat, and some great cartoon-style graphics. It is free, but in-app purchases are required for many items. How you play the game will dictate whether you want to spend any money or not, but you can have hours of fun without parting with a penny.

Asphalt 9: Legends – Free (in-app purchases)
