The 92nd Academy Awards caused a bang on the headlines. People were all excited to see who won while others ended up with a sad face when the year’s blockbusters like “The Avengers: Endgame” weren’t in the significant winning list. Along with that, no female filmmakers were on top and no people of color were found on top of the acting categories. However, female directors did get a chance to win as well as African-American directors in the Oscars 2020.
The night came to an end with a history-making success for the movie “Parasite,” by Bong Joon-ho’s. It was a subtitled black comedy and the first South Korean movie to take home the best picture award. Also, Parasite was the most successful movie of the night which won fours Oscars. The awards included Best Director, Best Picture, Best international feature film and best original screenplay.
The film is based on two different Korean families, one poor and the other wealthy. The story is all about how the low-income family manipulates and make their way into wealthy families. After the nomination of 11 non-English movies ever, this was the first one to win an Oscar.
Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor for his fabulous act in Joker at the Oscars 2020. He has only won Oscar once but before has been nominated thrice. He was nominated for the movie Master in 2013 as best actor, in 2006 for Johnny Cash in “Walk the Line” as well as for best supporting actor for Gladiator in 2001.
